Estee Lauder Double Wear Foundation Review with 5N2 swatch

Ciao Bella!

As mentioned in my Selfridges summer beauty evening &  Makeup haul post (which you can read here)I wanted to try a new foundation as I have been wearing my beloved MAC studio fix foundation since I was 16 (I’m now 20!). I’ve heard so many good reviews and raves about the
Estée Lauder Double Wear foundation, so I thought I would give it a try. I have combination/oily skin so finding a oil free foundation like , Estée Lauder Double Wear foundation  is essential. The finish is  Semi-Matte and is perfectly fine for those who have oily skin. It has 15-hour staying power similar to the long wear of the MAC Studio fix fluid but also , Medium, buildable coverage with a built in SPF 10 Natural. After chatting to the counter assistant I was matched to shade 'Amber Honey (5N2)' which is a neutral shade.

What is Estee Lauder Double Wear Foundation?
Coverage: Full coverage
Finish: Matte Finish
Number of Shades: 30, ranging from “Bone” to “Mahogony”
Main Selling Point: Covers well and stays on all day

What did i think?
It’s a little pricer than my normal foundation by MAC which cost £21.50, but i feel that £27 is still a reasonable price for a high end foundation. Estee Lauder Double Wear Foundation is one of the best selling foundations on the market. They are broken down into 3 different groups C (cool), N (neutral), W (warm), to help you find the perfect shade, They have a huge range of 30 shades to choose from. The foundation glides on smoothly but dries quickly so you have to work somewhat fast to get this on. I did find this foundation a little too dry as it made my face feel too taught and somewhat stiff. Although once dried it stays in place all day long and doesn't budge-good stuff! It’s heat-proof, water-resistant and gives your skin matte finish. I love makeup products that have SPF in them, good for preventing sun damage. The biggest downside to this foundation is that it oxidised throughout the day meaning the colour looked darker at the end of the day then when i put it on. I wouldn’t say the coverage isn’t as brilliant compared – (I would say it wasn’t full coverage but medium) to MAC’s fix fluid but maybe the  Estee Lauder Double Wear Foundation maximum coverage would be better. Once I have finished this bottle I won’t be purchasing it again, due to the way it made my face feel and how it oxidised. Also the shades for dark skinned beauties are slightly orangey, which is not a good look.
Amber Honey (5N2) -  neutral shade

Pros:Huge range or colour shades, staying power, SPF 10  , oil free
Cons: have to buy pump separately, oxidised, drying , not full coverage, the shades for dark skinned beauties are slightly orangey.
Bottom line: Once I have finished this bottle I won't be purchasing it again, good foundation but I feel there are better ones on the market for less or similar price.

Have you tried Estee Lauder foundation?
